Looking Back at 2015 & Looking Ahead at 2016

March 20, 2016

Looking ahead to this year!!

So we’re getting close to the end of the year now. It’s been a fantastic year for us. We have finished the 6th Bemis album, and the 2nd one with the current lineup and we’ve created many “backstage” elements to the band that will really pay off for us going into the future. We are enormously grateful for the ongoing support and want to say hi to all of the people that have met us for the first time this year.

We started the year with an instore appearance at the Music Room, a really enjoyable spot on Radio Woking and a special gig at Chichester College. Then festival season started early for us again with the South Down’s Green Fair, an event we absolutely love playing. Then we had other great events that made the year special such as the Petersfield Spring Festival, Watchet Festival, Wickham Festival, the Something Else in the Dean events and we were honoured to play a 2nd time at the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival. We’d like to thank all of the festival organisers for thinking of us and making us a part of your Summer.

Sadly, we had to play our last show at the Eastney Cellars this year, as it closed its doors during the Summer. Over the years that was the main venue for our Bemis and Friends nights, and we want to thank Steve Pitt and everyone else at the Cellars for everything they have done for us over the years.

We continued to play at the pub gigs, and private parties, and continued to add songs to our repertoire through the year. We also recorded the album “People are alike all over”. This album, as a companion to “The Junction” really shows you how we see the future of Bemis. We’ve been really pleased with the reception for the album and are extremely happy with how the songs have turned out.

The year finished with a very special show at the Wedgewood Rooms where we joined by the brilliant Megan Linford and our old friends Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs. We launched our album that night, as well as performing songs from various albums of ours, with a special appearance from the Cantilena Youth Choir. Many thanks to those support acts and the choir for making it such a lovely night. The audience was amazing that night and we’d like to thank them for coming along and being so vocal.

Next year sees more shows and festivals, with many great things already booked this early. There is a good chance we will be recording again, as we have new songs waiting in the wings….but in the mean time, massive, massive thank you for all your support.
